American Lung Association at USC |
Description: We are the American Lung Association's official USC chapter. Our purpose is to serve the mission of the American Lung Association organization: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy and research.
Our organization achieves this by fundraising for lung cancer charities, educating the student body on the importance of maintaining lung health, cleaning up cigarettes and vaping devices on campus, and also advocating for clean air policies by working with LA City Council. We are a tight-knight, hard-working group of people passionate about the intersection of medicine, public health, and environmental justice and its effect on our community's lung health. Description: Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukemia.
For patients with blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma and other life-threatening diseases, a cure exists. Be The Match is a community of donors, volunteers, health care professionals and researchers who deliver cures by helping patients get the life-saving marrow transplant they need. Blueprints for Pangaea (B4P) |
Description: Blueprints For Pangaea is a student-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that reallocates unused and expired medical supplies from hospitals in the U.S. to other nonprofits both locally and internationally. Our mission is to minimize domestic inefficiency and mobilize accessible healthcare in emerging communities.
To date, our chapter has reallocated $700,000 worth of excess supplies– such as isolation gowns, N95 masks, and maternal-fetal equipment– from Keck Medicine, Lysol, 986 Pharmacy, and other donors. These supplies have found homes as close as to home as our unhoused neighbors in LA, all the way to areas of need in Mexico, Vietnam, and Myanmar. Brain Exercise Initiative |
Description: Our goal is to help seniors train their brains to prevent the onset of Alzheimer's Disease and dementia. We meet at Merrill Gardens retirement home five times a week to work with seniors using fun and engaging packets, including trivia, math, and reading. Each of these exercises have shown to improve memory and cognition through research by Ryuta Kawashima. These sessions also build bonds between USC students and seniors in our community, and the students also benefit from the seniors' advice and wisdom.

Community Health Involvement Project |
Description: Our mission is to provide underserved communities with basic health screening services and information about prevalent yet preventable health problems. Activities we do: Provide important screenings such as blood pressure and blood glucose to adults in various LA communities, teach kids in LA schools important and engaging lessons about their health, work with other local health organizations in our annual health fair to provide healthcare access to different communities.

Colleges Against Cancer

Description: The purpose of this organization is to promote cancer awareness and education and raise money for cancer research. All of our fundraisers are to support the American Cancer Society. We host an annual Relay for Life which is a 10-12 hour walk on USC's campus to raise money for cancer research and to celebrate and remember those impacted by cancer. We also host events throughout the year such as speaker events with USC cancer researchers, other guest speakers with a relation to cancer, and advocacy and cancer prevention events on campus.

Everyday Responder Project (ERP) |
Description: The Everyday Responder Project (ERP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by USC students focused on promoting access to bystander medical training and boosting bystander confidence in providing care in an emergency. Our team currently consists of licensed EMTs, medical doctors, medical students, and various creative talent (animators, graphic designers, etc.) who work collaboratively to curate and disseminate essential emergency medical content. We are currently looking to welcome new volunteers to the ERP team for the Fall 2022 semester. So far, we have collaborated with organizations such as Troy Camp and WISE to teach bystander medical training. Additionally, we have participated in previous IHC Pre-Health Organization fairs and local science fairs such as the Silver Spur Elementary School Science fair.

Global Medical Brigades

Description: We are an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. We work in remote, rural, and under resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana who would otherwise have limited to no access to health care. Each community receives a brigade every 3 to 4 months where hundreds of patients are provided access to healthcare and volunteers deliver public health workshops.

Description: Founded in 2016, Synapse is one of three neuroscience clubs at USC and prides itself on supporting the professional and social development of its members. We aim to provide USC’s community of neuroscience enthusiasts with resources and support regarding classes, research, and industry experience. Our meeting topics have previously included journal clubs around neuroscience research, speaker series, and social events. Trojan Health Volunteers |
Description: Trojan Health Volunteers (THV) is an organization under the Joint Educational Project (JEP) at the University of Southern California that gives undergraduate students who have completed at least 1 semester at USC, the opportunity to obtain valuable volunteering experience in a number of different hospital and clinical settings. Depending on the site they are placed at, a student might gain hands-on experience helping nurses, witness the inner workings of the hospital system in a more administrative position, or gain insight into the functioning of medical teams through shadowing. In addition to exposing students to a clinical environment via volunteering, THV is committed to supplementing the clinical experience with weekly written assignments and bioethical group discussions to advance their understanding of the medical world.

Description: Interaxon is a dynamic club at the University of Southern California. Our mission is to teach students of underserved K-12 schools in the Los Angeles area about STEM-related topics.
