Advocates for Healthy Aging
Description: Advocates for Healthy Aging at USC is a volunteer organization aimed to enrich the lives of older adults at a retirement community. We aspire to promote wellness in all facets of life through the interactive programs and activities that our members lead and help in. If you'd like to work with and help older adults, learn from their life experiences, and develop intergenerational friendships, this is the org for you.

Description: The Associated Students of Biomedical Engineering (ASBME) is the premier professional organization for students interested in biomedical engineering and related fields. We put on academic, social, corporate, mentorship, and community outreach events. Community Health Involvement Project

Description: We are a club of students who have a passion for spreading health awareness to the community. By establishing long-lasting relationships with community centers such as recreational centers, after-school programs, churches, and health fairs, we aim to be an integrated part of the community’s public health programs. We provide important health services such as blood pressure, blood glucose, and basic health education. During COVID-19, we have been able to maintain our involvement with the community by starting and maintaining a community fridge, making and distributing health resource packets, and mailing K-12 students science experiments. Delta Delta Sigma Pre-Dental Honors Society

Description: Delta Delta Sigma (DDS) focuses on building a supportive community of pre-dents and providing an informative space for people who are curious to explore the field. We host weekly general meetings, socials, community service opportunities, retreats, and more. A sampler of our events include an oral facial surgeon guest speaker event, preparing and passing out dental hygiene kits to the Downtown Women's shelter, going to Knott's Berry Farm, etc. We also work directly with USC's dental school so it's a great way to make connections early

Everyday Responder Project​

Global Dental Brigades

Description: Global Dental Brigades is an international movement of students and healthcare professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. We work in remote, rural, and under resourced communities (ex. Panama and Nicaragua), which would otherwise have limited to no access to health care. We are now planning to go to Panama for a week over spring break. Participants can help run dental clinic and participate in tasks such as instrument sterilization, shadowing licensed dentists, delivering post-op care instructions, and conducting children’s education workshops

Global Medical Brigades

Description: University of Southern California is a chapter of Global Medical Brigades, an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. We work in remote, rural, and under resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana who would otherwise have limited to no access to health care. Each community receives a brigade every 3 to 4 months where hundreds of patients are provided access to healthcare and volunteers deliver public health workshops. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends. In conjunction with our Medical Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with economic development, sanitation and clean water projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably evolving to a relationship of impact monitoring.

USC Interaxon

Description: Our mission is to promote STEM and higher education to students attending underserved K-12 schools in the Los Angeles area by providing interactive neuroscience and STEM-related lessons. Additionally, each semester we invite high school students to Neurocamp, an event typically held on campus where students gain hands-on experience as scientists through lab tours, dissections, panels, and lectures. Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP)

Description: USC KDSAP is a student-run organization that is dedicated to reducing the alarmingly high number of people who unknowingly suffer from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Medical, Educational Missions & Outreach at USC

(Medical, Educational Missions and Outreach) at USC is the 4th chapter of the nonprofit organization, M.E.M.O., with a mission to help the underprivileged communities locally, in Orange County, San Diego, Los Angeles, and abroad, in Vietnam. Throughout the year, we offer our MEMObers the opportunity to serve their local community, access to a variety of pre-health resources, and most importantly, a tight-knit family that will give unconditional support. Although the current circumstances are keeping us from having our annual mission trip to Vietnam where MEMObers get hands-on experience enacting long-lasting medical care and educational opportunities to the impoverished, we will be hosting plenty of events this upcoming semester that will definitely be worth checking out!

Medics In Armenia USC Chapter

MEDLIFE at USC

Mobile Clinic at USC

Description: In a typical year, our team works with doctors from the Keck School of Medicine and the JWRCH Institute along with medical, OT, PA and pharmacy students to run free clinics at homeless shelters. We also visit these shelters twice a month to bond with the residents through fun seasonal activities and help escort patients from the shelter to their follow up medical appointments. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be focusing on health-based education and telehealth clinics.

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)

Description: Here at USC's chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, we work to reduce the stigma around mental illness for students and faculty, creating a healthier and more accepting space on campus. At our meetings, we discuss various topics related to mental health—including self-care practices, general mental health information, and institutionalized barriers to mental healthcare—through informational presentations and speaker panels with mental health experts. Through these events, we raise awareness and have discussions about mental health stigma and ways in which USC as an institution can better serve its constituents. In addition, NAMI has and will continue to meet with the Engemann Student Health Center and their mental health administration to further discuss ways to provide accessible and competent mental health services to the campus, a resource left undeveloped for too long

Remedy Through Music

Description: Remedy Through Music was founded on the desire to spread love & encouragement to the people in our community who need it the most: hospital patients, at-risk children, and senior citizens. Since 2008, USC student-musicians have rehearsed & performed at various health sites most weeks out of each semester, resulting in thousands of hours of good music & great community service. SeeCing a Path Forward for Diabetes

The purpose of SeeCing A Path Forward For Diabetes (Sc→D) is to raise awareness about diabetes, promote the treatment of diabetes, and prevent the onset of diabetes in the Los Angeles area. This will be accomplished through SC→D members and community members engaging in guest-speaker events, as well as SC→D members engaging in charity work and local diabetes community events, and creating social media posts. Description: Founded in 2016, Synapse is one of three neuroscience clubs at USC and prides itself on supporting the professional and social development of its members. We aim to provide USC’s community of neuroscience enthusiasts with resources and support regarding classes, research, and industry experience. Our meeting topics have previously included journal clubs around neuroscience research, speaker series, and social events. While membership in the club is a lower commitment compared to other RSOs, we hope to be a welcoming and helpful community for finding support in academic endeavors and fellowship with peers.

Description: Trojans4HOSA's goals are to help pre-health students network and develop leadership skills. Violence Intervention Volunteers

Description: VIV is an organization that sends student volunteers to work at LAC+USC hospital’s Violence Intervention Program, also known as VIP! VIV works directly with the VIP Community Health Center, founded by Dr. Astrid Heger of Keck Medical Hospital, to help underserved communities in the LA/South Central areas. Through childcare, online tutoring, special events, and mentoring services, VIV helps VIP provide services to women and children who are victims of sexual and domestic violence, foster children, and individuals with mental disabilities. In addition to volunteering in the Mental Health Activity Center, volunteers can shadow in the VIP Urgent Care Clinic, where they can take vitals and help prep exam rooms.

Vision for Vision

Description: We are a non-profit, student-run, community service organization est. 2006. We are focused on health promotion of preventable eye diseases and provide eye health resources to underserved populations in the LA community.
